Positive Impact Marketing
Delivering impact on & off the water
Creating a legacy for the ICF Slalom World Championships Sydney 2025 began with a vision: to develop the impact created by the 2000 Sydney Olympics, by increasing paddle sport participation, building partnerships with the local community - including First Nations organisations, local businesses (including tourism) and schools - whilst delivering a memorable event that showcased sustainability in action and highlighted the heritage and environmental of the lands and waters on which it is being held.
By creating a Legacy Roadmap (strategy), robust planning across sport, community and sustainability activity was then developed. This included the required key measurement and reporting needed so that the results could be showcased in an impactful way, including the economic and social return on investment.
The result was a spectacular World Championships that saw a wide-ranging and impactful legacy program complement racing of the world’s best canoe and kayak slalom athletes.
The event’s impact report will be published publicly in 2026. It shares how the Championships’ legacy program inspired school kids to try paddle sports; showcased the rich history of canoeing in Australia whilst giving the opportunity to interact with Indigenous culture; promoted the importance of health and wellbeing (including heart health checks and sun safe advice), and the impact of sustainability in action.
